Business Internet T-1 Service Description

Telecom Broker Network.

Internet over Ethernet, or Internet Ethernet, is a business-class Internet service that is delivered over the Local Area Network (LAN) standard, IEEE 802.3, that was developed by Xerox, DEC, and Intel that connects computer devices over twisted pair copper wires, fiber, or wireless LANs. Ethernet got its name from "luminiferous (light-transmitting) ether" once thought to pervade the universe.

Devices on Internet over Ethernet networks are connected to switches that use the Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) protocol and communicate at various speeds, depending on the type of Ethernet equipment used. For example, 10 BASE-T Ethernet equipment passes traffic at speeds up to 10 mega bits per second (Mbps) while Fast Ethernet (100 BASE-T) transmits at up to 100 Mbps and Gigabit Ethernet operates at a speed of 1,000 Mbps, and 10-Gigabit Ethernet runs at up to 10 billion bits per second.

Business Internet over Ethernet service today is usually delivered over 100 Mbps "Fast" Ethernet copper circuits or over 1 Gigabit fiber circuits where fiber is available to the customer premise.

Internet over Ethernet pricing options are usually flexible in that only the bandwidth your business consistently uses is billed on a flat rate, while much more bandwidth is available on the Ethernet circuit so that your business can immediately utilize higher levels of bandwidth as required. There is usually a surcharge if the extra bandwidth is utilized.
